Hi All,

I have a Macbook pro 15" running safari 2.0.4, and I was wondering if it was worth installing safari 3 beta. Will I see faster load times, more supported websites and applications, more customization, etc. Thanks.

Cheers

Yes, give it a try. If you don't like it there's an easy uninstaller that will bring you right back to Safari 2. I find it much faster than Safari 2. I'm not sure about "more supported websites", I see a few new ways to customize toolbar.

I personally dont see any need to upgrade to a beta version as yet.
I can wait till leopard to do all my experimenting.

I've been using it for a while and like it (ver 3). There are some sites that haven't accepted it though like Yahoo Mail, which is really stupid of them, but whatever. So it'll kind of depend on the sites you visit. Like another poster stated it comes with an easy uninstaller so really no risk to give it a try.

If you search webpages frequently (i.e., use Find to search for terms on a given page) it's much better in the beta. Also, it's nice to be able to rearrange tabs, though I never seem to use that...

Been using it since the day it was released with no problems. And yeah, it does seem more stable than Safari 2.

The new features are great. There's only one thing that I really wish they would add - the ability to force pages to open in a new tab. I know you can get 'em to do that by holding command and clicking, but it'd be nice to have it in the Preferences.

I do get the occasional problem were it hangs for a while.

That said, is it faster? Hell yes.

It also has better javascript support than version 2.

I won't go back to version 2.

As for you, well, there is no harm in trying, as you can easily roll back.
