I am trying to create a new database in my LibreOffice on my Macbook Pro and it says I need JDK first. Is this safe for my system and where should I get it from? Is this a simple download and install, or will it mess up anything else on my computer?
Thanks.

JAVA from ORACLE is safe and installation is a matter of seconds.
Using it since 2002!

I went to the download site for Jave JDK and clicked to download it. But it is nowhere to be found. Is there a catch? I assume this is a free download. I am currently on a MacBook Pro running Catalina, but if this works here, I want to download the JDK onto my new iMac, for use with LibreOffice.
Is there a catch?
Thanks.

It did not show up in your downloads folder on the computer? Maybe the download did not actually start?

Since some years you must tick a checkbox saying that you agree with the (free) licence.
If you are a private person there is no fee; if you are a professional there is.

I checked the Downloads folder and even the desktop. When I clicked the download link, it took me to another page which said "thank you for downloading.....) but it is not on my machine.

There was no box offered to check to agree.

Scroll down on the page and select to install macOS Installer.
