Is LimeWire Safe

If I download LimeWire on an external hard drive and only use it to upload my own files, and download files my friends uploaded, is it safe to use limewire? Basically what I'm asking is: Is the actual file itself, "Limewire.app", safe. I know many files downloadable on limewire have viruses, but I'm talking about limewire itself.

I consider it safe. We've never got a virus from an app. I've not heard of any malware or trojans from it.

Limewire.app is created by the Lime Company, if downloaded from the official Limewire Website it's 100% safe.

What you then download with limewire is of course another story.

The application itself is safe to download. What you download from it is your responsibility.
