When at my desk, I connect my rMBP to a monitor and run the rMBP with the lid closed. To save some space, I was thinking of getting a stand so I could raise the monitor (actually, it's a 32" HDTV) and slide the rMBP under it.

Is this a bad idea? My main concerns would be WiFi performance and heat. Anyone by chance have a pic of their setup like this that they could share? Thanks!

Yes, get a book arc. Putting the MacBook in a small opening like that will also inhibit air circulation.

I found the BookArc kind of annoying sometimes not to mentioned it takes up a lot of space.

I have run a Mac under a monitor for a long time with no issues. Yes WiFi reception will suffer a bit.

As long as the rear of the Macbook is clear, which is where the "exhaust" exits the laptop, you should not have to worry about heat.
