Hey, I have a 21.5 iMac which is amazing, but I find that when I travel, I want my iMac with me....obviously thats impossible, so I want to invest in a Macbook Pro...my iPad doesnt cut it when it comes to traveling for a week or more...

but my main question is, is the Macbook Pro worth the money?

i :apple: Apple!

My 2010 15" i5 is the finest computer I've ever owned. That's saying a lot too since I run the IT department for a $1B company... ;)

Worth is a subjective term and the definition will vary from person to person. What do you use computers for? Why does your iPad fall short?

Don't we all...

I was given a 17" MBP last Christmas.

If I had to pay for it, would I say it was worth the money?

Without doubt it's worth it. Fantastic tool.

You dont own an iMac? My iMac is by far the greatest desktop I've ever owned! But anyways, thanks, I am strongly considering a Macbook Pro

My iPad falls short because I've fallen in love with Apple OSX...I just love how everything works easily and quickly

but I will say this, surfing the web with the iPad is great!

Actually, i mainly use my iMac for web-browsing, itunes, email, video editing, and school papers (Pages is awesome!)

My point is that I can get whatever laptop I want for work, and the 2010 MBP is fantastic. You won't be disappointed with one if you get one.

That being said though, I'd strongly recommend going with the 15" or 17" unless you really need the portability of the 13".

Absolutely! I had the 13" and loved the size, but it was quite underwhelming. I mean, when I could use my sister's 2008-model unibody Macbook and it was just as fast as my brand new 13" MBP, I was quite disappointed.

My new 15" i7, on the other hand, is nothing short of amazing in every regard (except price, lol).

I say yes. Even though you are paying 2k+ (if your like me and got the 15" i7), the laptop will last you an easy 5 years if you treat it right. And also the fact that for almost every user the laptop could replace the need for a desktop because of how powerful the new laptops are starting to become, so it will be a multi-purpose computer.

I totally agree with tt. The MBP is a powerful computer which I use in place of a desktop and take with me whenever I travel. I am presently on vacation and uploading my photos nightly, checking email, etc etc. When I return home it will be back in my home office. I don't think you can go wrong with the 15MBP.

if i didn't know any better, i'd say he was hitting on you

JkJk

My 2 cents is, if you have money to take a vacation for weeks at a time, a mbp should be within your means. It is a lot of money, but if you can afford it--you are buying one of the most well built, engineered and designed laptops in the industry.

I'm going away in December to Europe and I think it'd be a great thing to take with me! All I take with me now is my iPad, but a laptop can do soo much more!

hey i am running a brand new 2010 2.66 ghz i5 15" mbp, and it is amazing!! lightning fast and extremely well made. I run SC2 on it consistently every day and the graphics card is pretty awesome! i do love this computer and as stated if it disappeared i would replace it immediately! If you enjoy your imac you will enjoy the macbook pro 2x more, theres a few more features like a backlit keyboard =D

I really like my MacBook Pro... was thinking of selling it for a iMac but I'll just buy the new 27" apple cinema display and it'll be like having a iMac and a MacBook Pro :)

The MacBook Pro is the most solidly built laptop on the market with the best operating system available. It is well worth the extra money over a PC laptop.
