Hey guys,

Been on coconut-battery recently as I've noticed my Macbook gets hot when charging, looking at the results during the charge and heavy use the battery temperature sometimes sits around the 48°C/119°F range.

Is this excessive or is this fine? Seems very hot.

Cheers!

Batteries get hot when you charge them, just the nature of the beast. I don't use coconut so I can't tell if that temp is excessive.

My perspective on the coconut app is that it only causes people to obsess over the battery for no good reason. If you use the laptop and enjoy it, the battery will last years, so don't worry about that stuff [/getting off my soapbox]

How long does it last on battery?

If it lasts for a good few hours, then it's fine. If it lasts maybe an hour or two, then it's near the end of its life.

Amen. Same goes for temp monitoring apps, fan control apps and other such nonsense.

Haha, praying on my insecurities.

Battery life is fine, just replaced it so looking at full capacity. Was just curious about the temperature.

Cheers for the help guys :)
