Hi all,

I have the MBP listed in my signature, and I've noticed recently that it's been getting pretty hot. Now, it's probably 72-74 degrees in my room, but it's nowhere near scorching.

My CPU, however, is ranging from 55-60 degrees C and I don't have anything open. (Aside from this Safari window, which wasn't open a second ago :)

Is that normal for such low impact? Do I need to reapply some thermal paste?

Is is possible that dust build up is the culprit? Are you handy with opening up an MBP case? A can of compressed air after you open up the case might do the trick.

I've read that it is advisable to blow out built up dust as often as twice a year. I've also read that an Apple Store tech MIGHT clean out the internals for free. I tend to doubt that though, but you might get a reasonable quote if you don't want to deal with taking the bottom case off.
