Is my iphone 4s is unlocked?

Hi all,

I bought a second hand iphone 4s from uk.

I returned back to my country in africa.

the iphone is locked i think as it says insert simcard with no pin bla bla. it doesnt work with any sim.

First how do i check whether the iphone is locked or unlocked through imei on the net and whats the network? can some1 here check it for me?

Secondly, Is it possible to get it unlocked from uk whilst the mobile is with me in africa as the price for unlocking in africa is 4times than in uk.

Your advice wud be appreciable.

Do you know what carrier it's locked to?
There's also the gevey option.

i don't knw abt that. how to check that.
i think the network is orange uk.

You can try calling them and see if they will unlock it.
