iPod touch Is my iPod 2nd or 3rd generation?

I bought an ipod touch 3rd generation off amazon. I install an app called battery magic that says it's second generation. This is the 2nd app to do so. So would my ipod be a second generation or a third generation?

Amazon labels their items pretty clearly, so you don't have to worry. Most of these battery apps have not been updated to be able to tell the difference between second- and third-generation Touches yet.

Is your ipod 8gb by any chance because they do have the same hardware.
Also I am not sure at all about this but check the serial no. and if the last 3 digits are 208 it may be 2nd gen.
My last ipod touch 2 gen was replaced and both the serial nos ended with 208.
