I have a Mid-2015 Mac Book Pro. It was eligible for a free out-of-warranty battery replacement. When the new battery was added, the speakers were damaged in the process, so Apple replaced those too.

But now I am not sure if the fan was also affected by the replaced battery. Sometimes it will make a 1-second puff sound where the fans spin really loud for a second. But this puff second only happens once or twice a day (although it hasn’t done it today, so maybe it’s temporary?).

When I start the Mac, the fan will spin up for a few seconds after Mac OS has loaded before quickly quieting down. It will then be mostly quiet (you can only hear a tiny hum if you put your ear next to the machine).

The only time it makes real noise is when doing intensive work which of course is normal.

Is this all normal? It’s the puff sound that has got me concerned, as I've never heard that before.

I am also concerned about the USB port. As when I plug my iPhone in 99% of the time it will charge fine. But 1% of the time it will keep on reconnecting and disconnecting by itself until I unplug it and inset it again.

Because these problems are so intermittent, it’s hard to demonstrate. Is there any software diagnostic I could use to test for a problem? I’ve tried the built-in Apple Hardware test, but it says everything is fine.
