Hello,

I was going to upgrade my iMac G3 to Mac OSX Panther. I put the OSX Panther CD in my iMac and it spat it out. I had a look at the shiny side of the CD and it was covered in tons of little tiny white blotches. I don't know how it happened, the CD had been sitting in it's case for years...

I tried cleaning it with a dry cloth, then a damp cloth and neither worked. Is there anything I can use to clean the CD or is it ruined?

Thanks in advance!

Sounds like the plastic and metal are starting to separate. Have you been keeping it somewhere warm?

For the past year or two its been in a plastic case in my desk drawer. I wouldn't think it would be too hot in there. Plus there are about 10 other CDs and DVDs in there that are fine.

I guess if thats happened the CD is ruined, right?

You might be able to find a cheap Panther disc on eBay - if you really want Panther.

IMO, old macs are horrible, ur probably better off buying a used mac thats like early 07 or something. its much better than panther, we have some 10.1.5 macs at my school, and theyre horrible! i cant do anything on them, oh and they also use internet explorer! like how outdated can u be!?
