Got a non Apple A1496 battery at a pretty incredible price.

After 6 charging cycles, Im seeing the following specs in coconut battery, system info and tech tool pro:

1.Maximum Capacity: 6977mAh

2. Design Capacity: 7150mAH

3. Capacity life remaining: 97.9%

Just wondering: is this discrepancy in capacity normal for a (supposedly) brand new battery?

Yes, totally normal for a battery not to charge to exactly 100%. You should only be concerned if that maximum capacity number starts to drop too quickly over to following weeks, which isn't totally unheard of with aftermarket batteries.

Thanks....in my case the maximum capacity has gradually climbed upwards as the number of charge cycles went up.

When I installed the capacity was around 6,700+....just checked with techtool pro and its now at 7035mAh.....the seller told me this was going to happen.

They are a shop that specialise in batteries of all types.

The maker of the battery is listed as SMP, which I noted is an authorised supplier to apple.
I know this is a bit of a grey area but it does provide some assurance.
