Is my macbook sleeping when I close the Lid?

Hello,

I have a macbook and when I close the lid at nite the apple lite shuts off and the lite on the front flash, but the lite also flashes when the display goes to sleep. The reason i don't think that the computer is going to sleep is because the computer could be 100% charged and when i get up in the morning it has like 15% battery life left. I don't think this is right!

Easy way to tell -

Is the sleep light pulsating? Or is it solid?

Another way - After a while - is it still hot?

If the light is pulsing it should be sleeping.
