I bought a 17" powerbook around 15th June. I got the shop to put in extra memory for me, so when I collected it the box was open. I am having problems with it and when I rang for support I was told that my 3 months were up, that my powerbook was registered from April! Is it possible they gave me a used computer and is there any way of checking this out?

Did you buy a PowerBook or a MacBook Pro? The PowerBook has been discontinued since early 2006.

And yes, it is possible they gave you a used computer, probably a returned one, now called "refurbished" sometimes.

PowerBook? If it literally says powerbook on it, then it's about 6 years old.

Well if it was a PowerBook your warranty ended 5 years ago.. But I'm assuming you mean MacBook Pro. Where did you order it from? If it is new and from the apple store the warranty is one year.

Explaining the situation and making sure that you are talking about the right hardware would help us help you.
