My mother just opened a restaurant and she asked me to make a website for her. Well, I finally got around to it:

http://www.sabragrillbocaraton.com

It's a pretty simple site, but I'm a little worried that there is too much going on in the top area of the pages. Any thoughts? Thanks!

What white bar? I'm using Firefox 3.0.7 on Windows.

Site is nice.

EDIT: FYI, no white bar in IE6 either.

If I shrink the window more then it isn't there ... but I would think the background auto-sizes.

You need to repeat the background, because on the PC I have at work, the 1680x1050 resolution I'm using I see the white bar on the right side. So if you were to tile/repeat the background, or center the graphic, with a solid background color around it, it would look better.

I can't get that white bar to appear no matter what I do on my PC.

Ah

I guess you guys have mega-resolutions. I'll fix that asap - thanks!

I can see the the white areas in FF3/Safari 4 if i shrink it enough on my 13" MacBook.

I find the top of the site and the top navigation rather larger in comparison to the rest of the page. Also for the content text I'd increase the line height. This may be part of the reason some may feel it's cluttered. Just need a little extra white-space around your context text areas.

The site is really clean and organized, I don't think it is too cluttered at all. There is one thing I don't like, and it is simply a personal preference. I don't like how your words and pictures float above the background. I don't like seeing the background flow through the image I'm looking at, I find it distracting.

But other than that, it looks good.

Not to cluttered at all.

The few 'not sure' things I noticed:

The Home Menu Directions Contact Us items are not completely even horizontally. Some are slightly higher than others.

On a high res screen there are white bits, as Jessica pointed out.

Other than that I think it looks very nice. :)

edit: I second the advice below. A couple photos may be nice.

Looks nice, how about a few pictures. Its always nice to see a few pictures of the Restaurant itself or the food been served

The site looks pretty nice. On first visit the site loaded very slowly, you should see what you can do to optimize that. I'd recommend that you learn a little more about CSS, you should be able to get rid of the div in a table in a table in a div clutter pretty easily.

Wow, site looks nice. I might stop by your place and try the food :D

Looking from a customer's POV, it has what I would want readily available. Hours of operation and a menu with prices. Maybe add some pictures of the place (interior/exterior) on one of your pages (maybe contacts page?). Overall I like it.

That site is beautiful and completely does exactly what it needs to for its purpose. You have info about you, menu, location... Its great. Nice work. :)
