Okay so the other day i was ripping some music (georges bizet - carmen) anyway so after ripping i eject and try to play some warcraft

but my superdrive just spits it out

iv reset the pmu, repaired permissions, cleaned the cd, tried different cds

the superdrive makes the normal sound, when u insert a disk, but it doesnt seem to mount or spin up. it then proceeds to make the eject sound

any clues?

its a superdrive on a rev a al 17 pbook

i checked on the hardware manager (about this mac) but it doesnt have a serial number or unit number

and my superdrive is there, i also checked when running toast

but yeah it wont accept any media

i would try a hardware test cd but then again its my superdrive thats having the problems so thats dead in the water

My wife's 15" PowerBook had a problem also. It was when she wanted to burn some music to a CD. She took it to our local Apple Store. They ordered her a new superdrive. Only one year old so it was fixed at no cost.
