My preferred USB-to-Ethernet adaptor stopped sending signal to my Macbook Air recently, so I fished out an older one (a Belkin) to use as a replacement. But every once in a while, my Air suffers one of those sudden, total crashes where you get the black screen with the "Your Mac shut down because of a problem" message displayed in multiple languages. I can always start it back up again, but... What exactly could be wrong with the Belkin that it might cause this problem? A voltage issue or something?

I also noticed that the Belin is VERY picky about position. If it isn't resting just so, it'll stop sending signal....
