Does QS use fewer system resources, which will make the mpb fun faster?

Unless you're going to go into terminal and disable spotlight manually it will always be running whether you install QS or not.
If you're so worried about the resources either one takes up, you might need to upgrade your system because both use minimal resources (after indexing).

It's better for program launching, that's for sure. But Spotlight really shouldn't be slowing down your system.

I'm pretty sure QS and spotlight are complimentary- quicksilver is a better launcher and has the action/receiver of action capability while spotlight actually searches within documents, which quicksilver does not.
