I don't really notice a huge diff in the speed when loading pages in safari...

I live in Ontario, close to Toronto...actually in Hamilton.

Is Rogers running DL speeds at 7.2? And for the matter is ATT running at that speed too?

Thanks guys and gals...

dude, i work for Rogers Wireless at one of the outlets, and honestly every person i work with says Rogers doesn't even have 3.2mbps.. but the how can the nokia e71 show 3.5g and transmit data on that if its lower then 7.2??

i just want to see one - two speed tests showing Rogers iPhone 3G/3GS showing 7.2mbps speeds lol

try getting the speedtest app and see where the speeds are using that.
I noticed that the 3g speed using tethering through my laptop is much faster than on iphone itself.

I never had a smartphone during when Rogers was still on the 3.6mbps 3g network but I am getting around 380~kb/s on the speedtest app. Sounds about right since it's impossible to get any where near the 7.2mbps advertised speed unless you're like right beside the cell tower...

Haha actually I did go to Newman....east

Ah, east, so you must be older, West and East were only around for me in grade 9, then we went to the central campus.

Rogers UMTS/HSPA network is definitely running with speeds "up to" 7.2mbps

i've used a usb modem to connect to the cellular network several times and have reached 5-6mbps down

There has been quite a bit of controversy regarding the claims/marketing of "2x" faster than the 3G. i think apple refers to it of the overall phone itself, where rogers has been using the term towards the network. while the phone can connect to the network at up to 7.2, it will be difficult for it to really take advantage of those speeds in terms of pure internet browsing.

how can they advertise saying double the speed and say our network is on 7.2 when no one notices a difference?

Theoretically it can do 7.2.... but there is no way in hell you'll ever see that until 4G rolls around.

it's all in the carefully chosen words of marketing.
