I have updated the driver for my printer on my new iMac. Yet now when trying to print envelopes through WordPerfect on Windows in the Parallels section, it is not responding correctly. Do I need a separate driver or setup for those programs running in Parallels?
My printer is HP Envy Photo 7855.
Thanks.

Is that the latest version of WordPerfect for Windows from Corel you're referring to? As far as driver support is concerned, you will need the latest HP Envy driver that supports the version of Windows that you're running in Parallels.

There is a later version of WP I think, but this is recent enough. I just did install the latest HP printer driver for this iMac. And that fixed a different printer problem that I had.

Do I need a whole separate printer setup down from within Windows on my Parallels? Wouldn't that conflict with the printer setup done from my Mac system?

It depends...

If it's a USB printer, you COULD set it up separately in Windows, but you'd have to switch the printer from being connected to the Mac to being connected to the VM instead every time you wanted to use it in Windows.

If it's a network printer, you can set it up separately in Windows with no issue.

So, to be sure, if I do a printer setup in Windows, it will not change or affect the printer settings I already have in the basic Mac settings?
Thanks for your help!

I was just talking to an HP support guy (who had to ask another guy). He said if I set up a different printer driver in my Windows, it would conflict with the driver I have for my Mac as a whole.
Is there a step I can take that would prevent a problem?
Is there perhaps a difference in a printer driver and a network driver that I should be looking for?
Thanks.

If you set it up separately in your Windows VM, it will not conflict with your existing Mac setup. The only deal is what I mentioned — if it's a USB printer, you'll have to "disconnect" it from the Mac and instead "connect" it to the VM. If it's a network printer, there will be no conflicts whatsoever.

Well, I tried to set up the printer in Windows, looked for another driver. Got nowhere.
I've been trying to do so many things here, I guess right now I need more detailed instructions on how to set up this printer for proper use in WP in Windows. specifically, so it will print envelopes like it used to.

Update: I have tried different printer drivers, then I followed some instructions for downloading and installing Bonjour for a shared printer (on my network). Normal stuff is printing again, but the envelopes still print wrong. At least it recognizes the envelope in the center tray of the computer, but it only prints part of the addresses on each of three separate physical envelopes. Like, part of the recipient's address on the first sheet, then the recipient's name lower on the second sheet, and then the whole return address on the third sheet (envelope).

Please, what else can I do to get the driver in Parallels to communicate with my program?

Thanks.
