Is target/optical/usb only way in 2007 pro?

I bought an SSD for my old 2007 macbook pro a look like I will have o keep i longer than expected due to MOT ail of car and repair costs.

Anyway I an SSD and (stupidly) tried command + R.
Im used o my 2009 unibody.

I have a TM backup of the HDD, just want put on the SSD.

So is target mode, then do a TM import the bet way?

As I for got recovery not work had take the pro apart twice at work today.
To swap drives.
Oh and no other macs at work.

How can I get a El capitan TM onto the SSD?

I can reinstall in target mode from my imac but what about time machine?

without command R I do not know what to do...
