Ok cool...i akso have a samsung captivate with the hotspot feature... When i connect the ipad to it, its just a normal wifi icon... I guess the ipad know lt's tethering via a ios devices and not any wifi router...

I'd like to know if its being tethered via Bluetooth or Wifi. I'd assume bluetooth. I don't know how the iPad would know if the wifi hotspot was from an iPhone or not.

Tethering was via wifi... From iphone 4 to ipad 3G 1st gen...

Yeah it's integrated across Lion and iOS5+. It's really annoying because the iPad knows it's tethered using a 3G connection, and therefore restricts BBC iPlayer still (oddly 4OD and AppStore restriction disappears).

if buy ipad , i choose netbook , i can get 4 netbook 200 dollar for each , netbook can do more thing than ipad .......

Depends on what you're wanting to do. The iPad does most things just fine and is plenty lighter and more portable than any laptop or netbook.

I think the iPad to iPhone gets the link symbol since they iPhone is sharing GPS info with the iPad in addition to the WIFI goodness. Take a look at maps when linked, it gets much more accurate.
