Hey all

For those that use 13" iPads, do you feel that it is big enough to use for photo and editing without plugging into an external monitor? I use a monitor with my old 2017 10.5" for photo work as I find the iPad just a bit small but I absolutely hate being tied down to a desk+monitor.

I'd love to be able to just park the iPad wherever I feel like it and edit photos (in Lightroom / Affinity) and video (in Resolve). Just don't know if it's feasible.

Thanks!

I used to bring my old 12.9" iPP out with me every time I did any photography. Never felt constrained using it. I think I prefer the taller landscape view when it came to photo editing compared to what you get from the smaller iPad or MacBook. Using it was fine, but it was just a bit too heavy and cumbersome with the Magic Keyboard.

Though, I did recently get an M4 11" iPP and a new camera, waiting to go out with these as soon as the weather warms up a bit. I don’t feel like the 11" is too small, but haven’t been able to do much photo work with it yet.

As a "professional" black and white photographer, I use my 13" iPad Pro M4 for +95% of my photo editing. I happily give up the larger screen for the pencil capability. I have an M4 Mac mini with Studio Display if I ever want to edit on it. Mostly, I use it as the print server using Canon Professional Print on my Canon ProGraf 1000 since that is one area that the iPad cannot handle. To me, it is the best combination in the world.

If my final output was only digital, I'm not sure I would even have the Mac mini and Canon printer.

Thanks everyone. I am going to postpone the purchase of a new monitor until after I get the 13" iPad and spend a few months doing photo and video work on it. I have a perfectly good 24" FHD I can use if I just want to see finished photos or video a bit larger
