Does the SSD drive that Apple ships in the iMac, the 256GB drive, a Sata III 6GB/sec Drive?

Thanks in advance

Why? What is it that you are doing that would need a 6G SSD speed drive?

or just for bragging? :D

The :apple: SSD is rather pricey. Some might appreciate more performance for the price.

You do get decent performance with the :apple: drive. No complaints.

well, I think by now we are all aware that Apple isnt exactly known for its great pricing structure.

It never stops people from complaining though. Who wouldn't like sportscar performance for a low price.

You are absolutely correct. Macs are not for people interested in cheap computers.

Disappointing in the fact that :apple: releases a firmware to update Sata III while at the same time ships a sata II drive as their SSD option.

Seeing that they DO NOT want you in the iMac "upgrading" this seems not to make any sense at all.

Why even bother using the Z68 at all?

Maybe not from a consumer perspective, from Apple's it makes perfect sense. Buy cheaper SSDs in bulk from Toshiba, install them, charge lots, make more money.

Yup. they probably pre-ordered the SSDs a year ago to get a better cost and just told them to "send us about XXXXX per month". done.
