Hi,

I wonder if anyone else has had the same issue as me

First it boots up to Apple Logo then Sad iPod Icon then battery with an exclamation mark and just keeps on rebooting when connected to an Firewire port when connected to an USB port it doesn't show the low battery icon

Could a battery replacement fix this issue or is just throwing monet away or can the Sad iPod Icon disappaer after a battery change? It a low sound of a harddrive spinning up.

Don't want to open it up yet since it's not my iPod

What generation is the ipod and how long have you had it? You should try reinstalling the firmware(your music on the ipod will be erased) and if your ipod is still in warranty then get it checked out.

Sometimes the fingers move faster than my head :)

It's an iPod Mini, from beginning of 2006 (Replacement iPod), it's never found by the computer but it flashes the low battery icon and then starts the cycle again and again and again, you get the picture :)
