The Apple one... I just nabbed an iPhone 4 at my Apple Store today (they had a HUGE amount in stock) but they were out of bumpers. I just placed an order for a Black Bumper on Apple.com and it should be here within 5-7 days.

Just wondering if it's "worth the trouble" of hunting down a Bumper... Do you find it's bulky or stupid? Does it improve grip?

Thanks.

Got a free one yesterday... Not bad wrt feel and over all bulk...

The engineer in me would like the case to have tighter tolerances... i can feel the bumper shift a little...

But is it worth $29... Hell no!

I'm willing to bet typing my response took far less time than hunting down those threads.

Not really. There's tons of threads on bumper pics. Search "bumper pics" and check out the results you yield. Just trying to help the OP with some other threads that would be useful. ;)

I'd say its bulky... It "sticks" out on the front and back and makes it feel almost like its simply too large for the phone. I don't really like it.

Honestly, the Bumper is the most minimalistic case there is right now. It gets my vote.

if you were used to put your iPhone inside your pant's front pocket, you will notice that the bumper shows up.
And some 3rd party charger cables don't fit well through the dock connector orifice. I have a couple of GRIFFIN that now are useless with the bumper.

Does it fit OK? Like, nice and snug?

I've noticed a slight (and I mean very slight) bit of give if you try to shift it.

Not sure it would be possible to get it on the phone if that little bit of wiggle room wasn't there, though.

You guys have been great. Thanks.

My last question is, how recessed is the front/back once inside a Bumper? I've seen videos and it looks like it's almost flush, meaning if you lay the phone flat it rests on the glass and not the bumper.

Is there enough of a recess so that you can lay it on something and it only touches the bumper?

There is enough of a lip to keep the glass off whatever (flat) surface you lay it on.

IOW, your precious will be safe.

Yes, it's raised off a very small amount on both the front and the back so it can be laid flat on either side on a table and the phone itself will not be touching.

Perfectly stated.

I think it looks pretty sharp myself. Love the two tone black. The center shiny piece is a hard plastic which is great because it would suck if this thing stretched over time. Glad I made the decision to pick it up.
