Do you think Apple is getting rid of the headphone jack on the new Macs just like they did on the Iphones?

No. Apple doesn't have as much influence in the computer market as it does in mobile.

It was mostly removed for space reasons. Not an issue for most computers.

Not this round. They sent out a survey asking MBP owners how much they used it recently, after the design for the new models would have been finalized.

Depending on the results of that survey, it may or may not be included in next year's models.

Doubt it. There are other i/o's that are thicker than the 3.5 so doesn't make much sense to remove it from a thinness standpoint.

- Assuming the rumours about just four USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports are correct, there aren't actually. 3.5 mm headphone jack would be the tallest port on the machine if it's included.

I don't think they will. But now that iPhone's and Macs have different audio jacks, it does add a bit of inconvenience since we'll have to carry around 2 pairs of headphones with corresponding (unless going wireless).

Not now. Think of it like the Ethernet port. They want everybody to use WiFi, but if it can fit on the device then they'll keep it around. I don't think it will disappear from desktop Macs until it stops being used by everybody - not likely to happen anytime soon.

Just keep the dongle every iPhone 7 comes with. But, Apple would love to sell you a pair of wireless airbuds or Beats.

yeah that's what i have been doing. but i have to remove and re-plug the dongle every time I switch between the two. I can see myself losing that thing very soon

I remember that survey. Even though I don't have a use for mine, I said that I use it all the time. I can't imagine a computer without the jack being a part of. I think I've used mine once or twice since June 2015.

In the past before I owned and currently still do an ATV2, I used to use my MBP as my source for watching iTunes TV shows and moves as well as other movies downloaded from the net so I used to plug the computer into my stereo for the sound. Haven't used the jack since then and that was about 2011-12 or so.
