Mostly happy owner of a 2G iphone here.

My main remaining complaint is the low volume of calls when they come in. If I'm outside I can barely hear the person even with volume at the highest level and the phone smashed against the side of my head (yes, I'm holding the correct part of the phone to my ear, and no, I'm not interested in using the headphones or BT headset for calls).

I've heard a great deal about the improved sound quality of the 3G. Does the improved quality include louder volume for regular calls? Asked another way - will this solve my last big complaint about the iphone?

FWIW I don't particularly care about 3G, and can manage any battery life issues. So for me, the sound improvement - if it makes calls sound noticeably louder - would be reason enough for me to upgrade.

Related Q: is the volume of the ring tone also louder?
