Noticed my iPad mini 1 isn't very bright out doors and I can't see the screen when it is turned up all the way in settings for brightness but I can see my iphone or iPod touch just fine...
Anyone else notice this?

The iPhone's brightness maxes out at around 550 cd/m^2 (measurement of brightness), whereas the iPad mini 1 sits at 388. It's not so much that 388 is a bad number, but rather that 550 is a really good one.

And I've experienced the same -- I never have a problem seeing my iPhone outside, but the iPad mini isn't as great. I'm sure it's a cost trade-off. They could make a brighter iPad screen, but the component would probably cost a lot more and most people don't use iPads outside (at least, not too regularly). But people use phones outside all the time, so including a brighter screen on the iPhone was a must. My hypothesis, anyway.
