Hey. Quick question.

Is the iPhone 15 overheating still an issue?

I mentioned to a friend that when the iPhone 16 is released, I would probably buy an iPhone 15. My friend was adamant that I shouldn’t because of all the overheating problems.

(My friend doesn’t have an iPhone 15, so isn’t speaking from personal experience. But maybe my friend knows something that I don’t.)

Since I haven’t heard anybody taking much about overheating in months, I assumed the issue was done and dusted (after Apple released that update toward the end of 2023). So… is everything fine now? Nothing to worry about (in terms of overheating), right?

Thank you in advance for your replies. ✌🏼

I have been using an iPhone 15 as my daily driver for a month now and have never noticed any heating issues during use. I have noticed it get warm (not hot) only when charging, but that is to be expected when charging.

The "regular" 15 (the ones with A16 CPU) has never had overheating issues. It was the Pro-line (A17 Pro CPU) that had those issues, but it was sorted out by a Software correction shortly after release.

Ah. Good to know. It wasn’t even the two “regular” 15 iPhones that had the issues. And the Pros’ issues have been fixed now anyway. Double good to know. Thank you for the clarification. 😁

Only time my 15 ProMax get just slightly warm is after 90 minutes of FaceTime. Other than that, never.

My iPhone 15 Pro gets hot enough to be noticeable and then make me think "if this gets hotter / doesn't start to cool soon, I won't be able to keep hold of it" from time to time. It's usually when I've tapped the 'Update all' button in App Store.

The 'too hot to handle' can be mitigated by adding Apple Silicone Case with MagSafe, but obviously the heat is still there - just shielded a little.
