So the iPhone 16 series is out. and in terms of raw performance, they’re very close to IP15 Pro and got the same RAM capacity.

I thought about getting an iPhone 15 Pro but then I read reports about it’s heating too much and also suggestions this is something that was addressed in IP16.

Yet, looking at reviews, YouTube videos, reddit. I don’t have a proper conlusion.

Anyone here is using iPhone 15 Pro with heavy usage, is it got decent temparture?

Had the 15 pro max. Never had an issue with heat. Actually had 2 of them. Release day phone that I broke and a replacement phone. Didn’t have an overheating issue on either of them

Yes, it was. In my city, we experienced a heat wave with temperatures consistently above 33 degrees Celsius for 40 consecutive days, making it an unpleasant experience to use the 15 Pro Max outdoors.

It’s definitely warmer than previous gen iPhones, I notice it got better with the iOS 18 update

When I play Roblox with my kids on my 15 pro, the screen gets so hot it hurts my thumbs. Doesn’t happen on my iPad or xs max. Definitely something is up with the chip or thermals on this phone. Not a deal breaker and I still love my 15 pro, but just fyi.

Not so much heat… but there was always screen dimming due to the throttling to prevent over heating.
This was my problem. When filming outside, especially in the sun, it would get pretty hot but the biggest issue was the screen dimming. At some points I had to stop filming because I simply couldn’t see the screen.

Mine seemed warm (mostly during calls) when I first got it, but after a few iOS 17 updates, I never noticed it again.

Getting initial feedback it seems that it's not that critical. I guess you'll get some minor battery improvement based on the 6-10% bigger battery with CPU optimizations. but in the above thread they show they're pretty much getting similar temperatures:

In general it seems hit or miss which is similar to the 15 series.
- First time days the device syncing might make it warmer of course.
- It does look to be hot.
- Some people suggest though the throttling and screen dimming are less conservative (I can assume new silicon and design must have some improvements but I wonder how much compared to the 15 series).
