Is the iPhone 4 (bought on contract with o2) unlocked?

Hi guys
I bought my iPhone 4 in the Apple shop, on an o2 contract,
When I got home, it gave me a carrier update setting, I updated it.

Is my iPhone 4 unlocked? (to use other SIMs in it I mean!)

It is locked to 02 from the start but on the 02 website it says you can have it unlocked after the launch period. Which they don't mention when the period ends?
