If these are anything like last years model, probably not. Unless you specifically choose the sim free model you’ll get one designed for your carrier (ATT) the only difference is it won’t grab the locked policy upon activation.

Well look at that. Finally one model across the board.

Edit: maybe not. Notice that the iPhone Xs/ Max show A1921, but one for gsm and one for cdma.

I've read that Apple is using the new Intel chips with both GSM and CDMA for all carriers, and they are not using the Qualcomm chips with GSM/CDMA with Verizon/Sprint and the old Intel chips with GSM only for ATT/T-Mo. I wish I could find where I read that.

Last year I got in line on launch day and bought a Verizon 256gb, popped the SIM out, and put my AT&T SIM into it and walked out with a working phone. This year we shouldn't have to do that.

EDIT - Here it is https://www.pcmag.com/news/363740/warning-there-are-4-different-iphone-xs-models

The iPhone XS and XS Max sold in the US will be the first model in years where every unit sold will work on all four US carriers: AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon. For a few years now, AT&T- and T-Mobile-branded iPhones haven't worked on Sprint and Verizon, but this year, the phones will be cross-compatible.

Around the world, compatibility will vary. There are four different models of the iPhone XS and XS Max being sold in different countries, and they have slightly different LTE band support

I remember reading what you are talking about as well, and I think it was in with one of the lawsuit articles. Not sure it that was implemented or not.

I had just switched to xfinity mobile from T-mobile, and they use the Verizon network. I’ll take a look when my Max arrives, but I’ll guess we will know more before the 21st.
