I have been thinking about getting an iOS device for prototype/testing purposes.

I thought about getting an iPhone, but the high cost of over $500 doesn't appeal to me.

The iPod Touch seems to be cheaper alternative.

I would like to know if the iPod Touch has all the features like iPhone except you cannot make calls on it.

I'm sorry, but... It's been three years after the introduction of the iPhone and the iPod touch. This question has been beaten to death.

Short list of things you can't do with an iPod touch that you can with an iPhone:
-No camera (pictures or video)
-No Internet wherever you go (unless you have a MiFi/hotspot)
-No GPS (unless you buy a cradle)

You CAN make calls using a VoIP program (Skype) and a mic/headphone combination. Again, you have to be in a WiFi zone.

Wait for the new ipod touch to come out. It will probably have most of the features of the iphone 4.

Yeah, cause the first iPod touch had all the features of the iPhone. The second iPod touch also had all the features of the 3G, and the third generation iPod touch had all the features of the 3GS, including the compass.

There's still no camera. Who said the iPod touch 3G had a compass? It does not.

No Camera
No internet without wifi
No calls
No GPS

You should probably just wait for the new ipod touch, supposedly coming in September.
