I have had trouble downloading Lion thru the up-to-date program and have called Apple Support numerous times. All of them say my iMac is eligible for the upgrade. They told me to fill out the long form and it may take up to a week to receive the code. I asked the rep if I could take the image from my wife's copy of Lion and install it on mine. I also asked if that specific image was tied to her apple ID. He put me on hold and came back and said, yes, that would be fine and that it was not tied to a specific Apple ID.

Can anyone confirm that this is true? I just want to make sure that after I install it, it does not give me errors because the ID that downloaded it is not the ID the copy of Lion is associated with. Thanks.

I did a Lion install with a DMG not tied to my apple ID... No problemo ;)

Awesome. No more wait for me. The Apple rep said it was fine. However, I just wanted to make sure. Thanks again!
