Been debating on getting one of these and was hoping to find one refurbished, but no luck.

Are they still worth getting for the price? Say the i7 with 256SSD and 8GB ram and then upgrade RAM yourself?

I'm currently using a 2012 Macbook Pro, but would like to have more than 1 external monitor

It’s a happy medium between a laptop and a full-fledged iMac with a built-in display in terms of performance, and it’s definitely more configurable in terms of ports.

I bought an iMac and on occasion regretted having a main display that I cannot change, but I was happy with the price in terms of what I received for the money spent, and having built and graphics was a huge convenience.

I wish the Mac mini came with the same processor as the iMac so I could plug-in external graphics and use a Pro Display XDR instead.

To answer your question, I think it’s “mostly” worth it. They are overdue for a 10th generation update in my opinion and an eight core option. But that’s for my more demanding workflow. Most people will be happy with six cores.
