Is the MacBook heat issue only related to the plastic cover on the vent?

me and my girlfriend are both eyeing up the MacBooks, they look really nice and we both would like to get a free Nano! Also it seems to be free of most "1st gen glitches" except the HEAT i keep hearing about??

Is the MacBook heat "issue" directly related to the plastic covering the one vent? or is it pretty much just running hotter than most other laptops?

They run hot in general-my macbook does anyways. I read somewhere that Apple doesn't even advise leaving them on your lap. Kind of ironic.

Kind of el-sucko. But my new one is on the way, maybe there is some revision or something...i hope
