I’ve seen in lots of reviews that the fans on the 14” MacBook turn on a lot more than the 16”. Anyone who has it, does the fans turn on for general tasks like browsing or watching movies and does the 14” get hot? Thanks

14", even with the M1 Max, is generally un-phased by general browsing and watching movies. Doesn't get hot and the fans don't turn on.

14" M1 Max here since launch day - I have yet to hear the fan. 2x 4k60 monitors connected with tons of apps open and it's running nearly cool to the touch. Leaving it in bed buried in the comforter with a YouTube video playing, cool to the touch. Cinebench didn't even ramp them audibly. Haven't worked on any big premiere projects yet which will be the true test, but all of the above scenarios made my 16" i9 MBP scorching hot, throttling, and max fans.

Thank you. Can I ask if you’ve noticed if the general screen brightness when browsing, etc is brighter than the older models, even when not viewing hdr? Thanks

A little bit, but not really - my 16" i9 model was close but I'd say this is a tad brighter. When viewing HDR it's eye meltingly bright tho. You can immediately notice much better contrast and dynamic range out of the panel though in any scenario. Blacks are OLED deep even in SDR and it's a joy to look at. I'm holding out for a software tweak that will allow a higher SDR brightness - I can't see any reason why this won't be possible.

No. Screen brightness is the same as old model when not viewing HDR.

those reviews simply are not real world for most... I have both models, no issues... the only think that really bothers me and I notice a lot is the keyboard. The 16 is much softer or clicky? Not sure what it is, the 14 feels firm... nonetheless, very different!!
