Is the minidisplay port in 2008 MacBook same as 2009 MacBook Pro?

It seems to be different. I'm thinking of getting an adapter of minidisplay port to VDI or VGA. Is VDI better?

If it's an aluminium MacBook, then it's the same port. DVI is digital and better than analogue VGA.

It's the white MacBook that I'm talking about for the 2008.

White MacBook has a mini-DVI port, which is a different connector altogether –*somewhat bigger. So you will need different adapters for the 2009 MBP and the 2008 MB.
