In my iPhone 12 Pro Max it gets real warm real fast when 5G is enabled and it literally eats battery life! So curious if what upgrade iPhone 13 is using if it is more energy efficient?

Yes, Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 is in the 13 series. This modem chip is manufactured on the 5nm technology, which is more energy efficient than the previous one based on 7nm.
