Is the new iPad backward compatible with 3G?

I don't have LTE available yet in the country I live in. Will my 3G sim card work in the new iPad?

OK Thanks, I guess I should have looked it up online by a search, but I figured this was a good place to ask. My 3G ipad works great here, and my internet search revealed:
