My bad if this is a dumb question but was curious is the new iPad the same as iPhone4s retina and just bigger? Or is it actually better/ clearer?

I know they are both "retina" but is it as in pixels/resolution or whatever makes up how clear it is

Pretty much every review says its the most beatiful display they've ever seen on a mobile, so I'd have to say yes.

Saturation might be better. Also you may appreciate the larger "retina" display more.

4s:
iPad 2: 2048×1536, which is 264 pixels per inch.
iPhone 4s: 960x640, which is 326 pixels per inch.

So much higher overall resolution, a little less per inch but since you view it from further away it should look effectively the same.

I would assume they are realistically very similar quality screens, but being much larger obviously makes it a more impressive display. Hard to appreciate photos as well on a 3.5 inch screen. Or the experience of reading a book, a high resolution movie, etc.

Pretty much the same thing as the iPhone 3s vs iPad 1/2.
