Is the new MBA liquid retina screen actually IPS?

Having seen the 14 inch and 16 inch liquid retina MBPs in person one thing that struck me was the poor viewing angles. Digging a little deeper and it seems to make the new LED backlighting work they aren't using IPS panels any more.

Moving on to the MBA, it seems in some places Apple states "with IPS technology", and in others they don't. So I'm confused.
