Is the previous macbookpro better than the new macbook?
I have never owned a Mac, so i really do not know.
I saw the previous macbookpro ( 2.0 ) on sale at Bestbuy for $1600.
Is that a better deal and machine then the new macbook.

For sheer performance the last gen MBP would be the better machine. You wouldn't loose much going with the older machine. If you don't mind the larger package I would go with the MBP.

Its probably a tossup performance wise. But you have the 15" screen
with the MBP. So is screen size or portability the priority?

The new MacBooks performed better than the old MacBook Pros in benchmark tests but the Pros have a bigger screen so it depends on what you want.

Do what? The benchmarks I've seen show that the new MBPs are about the same speed as the previous machines in general and 3D benchmarks. The new MB can not be faster than the MBPs (old or new) since they use the same CPU and chipset as the new MBPs. The MB will fall behind in 3D since the integrated video is good but not as good as the previous or new MBPs. Sorry but the new MB is NOT faster than the previous gen MBP.
