Hi all

I think I have come to the end of the line with the waiting around for an update so I'm taking the plunge and getting a 24" Imac.

My question is...here in the UK the cost to increase the speed to 2.33ghz is £170 (USD320) so is it worth it for the speed bump.

My config will be excluding the processor speed:

2gb Ram
NVIDIA 256mg card
500gb HD

So what do you all think? I do have the cash for the upgrade so that's not a problem. I'm thinking more value for money here. Also, i could use the cash to get some other things now rather than a few months down the line e.g. software.

Thanks

Eddie

Nope, not really worth it. Buy some flashy peripherals to go with your imac with that money. You'll notice it a whole lot more. :)

Cheers

I agree, it really isn't worth that kind of money, the difference won't be noticeable. :)

Not worth it. If you want to spend the extra money, buy an external drive for back-ups. But saving the difference is a good idea too.

You won't notice the difference. Don't get the upgraded processer.

Agreed with all of the above: it is completely not worth it. And you'll feel especially foolish if they bump the 2.16 to 2.33 in the next rev for the same price, whereas if you buy the 2.16, a bump to 2.33 isn't all that big of a deal.
$320 sure is a lot, but there is more to that than just the processor isn't there?
Here in the States, it's $250... just for the speed bump.

Thanks to everyone who replied.

I think I'll save the £170 and spend it on something else.
