Hello, hope everyone is doing well.

I know the Series 7 and up has fast charging and the charger cable is USB C.

But I also read that the series 6 charges it’s battery faster than the series 4. Based on this, is the series 6 charger different? Or is the charger the same and only the Watch itself charges differently?

Thanks!
Regards.

From what I understand the changes that allowed the Series 6 to charge 20% faster were all in the watch, the actual charging puck with USB-A end did not change at all.

The newer watch charging puck with USB-C end is different, and it is required to allow the Series 7 and Series 8 to charge at their full speed. It is backwards compatible with all of the earlier watches, and I assume will still charge the Series 6 at it's full speed also.

The older charging pucks with USB-A end can be used to charge any Apple Watch, but the Series 7, and 8 will charge slower than they would with the USB-C charging puck (probably the same speed as a Series 6 I assume).

I believe the approximate charging times are as follows:

Series, Charge 0-80%, Charge 80-100%
0-5, 90 min, 60 min
6, 60 min, 30 min
7-8, 45 min, 30 min (Requires USB-C charging puck and 18W or higher power adapter)
