I went on a 5 mile walk this morning. About half way through I stopped for a bathroom break and paused my workout. I forgot to unpause it. When I got home and stopped my workout I noticed it was still paused.

Once I started walking again shouldn’t the watch have asked me if I wanted to resume my workout? Is this a bug or is the watch just flaky about this? I had my phone with me so I know my steps were counted. I assume if I didn’t have my phone my watch would still have counted the steps/activity even if the workout app was paused (so the only thing inaccurate would be the total time of the workout)?

Since you have to manually pause the workout I would expect that you have to manually unpause it … I rarely use the pause function tbh …

I‘m pretty sure that a manual pause stays paused until you manually unpause it. Auto pause while running does what it says ;-)
You should get notified though when you forget to start or stop a workout.

I wish it tapped your wrist asking if you want to resume a manually paused workout. I guess from now on I won’t pause and see if it auto pauses/resumes on its own.

I use pause and agree...for manual you have to restart it yourself. But on a related note: I have noticed over time that it is inconsistent in stopping/asking when a Workout is done. I can finish on the bike and just sit there.....and sometimes it will ask but sometimes 10 minutes can go by....but if I get up to do something it will ask almost immediately. Same with Outdoor Walks and other Indoor exercises: I can finish and if I don't stop the session it will continue to clock for 5-10-15 minutes...even though my heart rate has gone from 145bpm to say 70bpm. I've found this to be frustrating but have sorta really trained myself to conclude workouts etc. within a minute or two. Just another small glitch in an otherwise great application.

Yeah I’ve noticed that too. Sometimes if I forget to end a workout it will ask me right away if I’m finished other times 5-10 minutes can go by. I’m usually good about ending my workouts but sometimes I forget when I’ve paused one. I don’t think it should matter that you manually paused it, the watch should be smart enough to figure out when you’ve resumed.
