I've looked at a whole bunch, and it's all 30Hz@3840*2160.
Just bought a new MB today, need to hook it up to a 4K Tv.
Thanks,
M

It won't go to a TV.....

Unless it is one of the very few with a display port input......

If it is HDMI 30Hz is your limit, although you might get 52Hz with a hack and a minidisplay to HDMI 1.4.

2015 MBA 2.2 i7 8GB 512GB
Everymac:
2nd Display Support: Dual/Mirroring* 2nd Max. Resolution: 3840x2160 (4K)*
Details: *Although Apple originally only reported that this model could support a single external display up to 2560x1600, third-parties discovered that it actually could support a 3840x2160 (4K) display, and Apple subsequently revised their official documentation to confirm this, as well.

No good to me without HDMI 2.0, though, it would seem.

Depends what you want to do with it.

if it is just to run media on your big screen 30fps is fine as most video only runs at 24fps anyways. (even the 3rd hobbit one of the few that was filmed in ultrafast speeds is only 48fps)

If you want to use the TV to work on as a main screen you may have issues but hey it's an incredibly thin light laptop the air and the fact that it can output to 4K at all is a minor miracle...

Unfortunately no.

4k 30hz isn't the end of the world. I use it on my 4k tv and it looks glorious. The lag is less perceptible from the couch.

OP, the the "reason" we can't find an adapter like the one you're looking for is that it doesn't exist, because the conversion chipset isn't on the market yet - it doesn't officially exist, either.

Two companies late last year announced they're working on it, but one - the Korean parent of Accell - demoed a working adapter like the one you're seeking (on a Mac, I believe) at CES 2015. I don't have a link, but there is some info over at AVForums. You might give Accell a call - they've got great CS...

Will use a 40" TV it as desktop monitor. My 24" gets too crowded for video editing.
Accell is vaunting 1080p @120Hz, but carefully avoiding mentioning the 4K refresh rate. It's HDMI 1.4, so it can't be 60.
Thanks, y'all, will go with 30Hz while I wait for 60 to hit the market.

Why not just get an SST-capable mDP 2.0 display that can support 4K at 60 Hz?

that'd be great, but i need 40".

haha, *collective sigh* by 60 years' worth of oscar-winning editors who cut on the likes of moviola.

Accell's HDMI 2.0 product hasn't been announced yet - BizLink hasn't even started production. I asked a connect of mine, the royalty price for the HDMI part is the hangup - the licensee wants too much coin (I won't cite my source). When and if it flies, look for Accell (BizLink's NA partner), ParadeTech, and/Pluggable to put one out.

Here's the link on Clubic's web site - it's in French, translate as you see fit! Note the nMBP being used as the test mule:

Here's the AVSForum thread I'm following, FYI:
