Not that I'm aware of, and even if there was you wouldn't want to use it like that. It would sound awful - it's not the same sort of speaker the iPhone has, it's like the one in the other older iPods (good for just beeps and bops).

Yeah, the sound quality would be awful. :p Once I got music to play through my Gameboy Color speaker... man was it terrible. But I am a little surprised no one has made an app to do it, just for the sake of being able to do it.

Its is unfortunate because I'd like to be able to play sound to videos through a nicer speaker for when showing video to more than one person.

you can't play detailed audio through it, it's just a piezo.

Yeah, Piezos can only make monophonic tones like beeps and clicks. It's like the thing on PC motherboards that allow it to beep. It wouldn't be possible to play music on it.

Then get a little external speaker that attaches to your touch then. There's plenty of options that are affordable.

I don't really want to carry a speaker around in my pocket too, but I'm aware of the many options available, just sad that an internal speaker isn't one of them.

Well your right

hi im Jason.
yes it is possible for an Ipod touch 1g to have sound.
1. firstly you need to jailbreak your ipod
2. go into installer than download an app called ' Playmeout ' (installer is an app received after jailbreaking your ipod)
3. run app
and Wallahhhhh

Jason,

You said we have to use "Installer"? There have historically been two apps called "Installer" used to put non-signed apps on a jailbroken iPod Touch, and that name has long since been abandoned. Are you referring to Installer from the OS 1.x days, or the Installer from the OS 2.x days? Are you running 1.x or 2.x software on your Touch?
