Is there a better way to resize the windows?

I really like the feature in win7 where I could just snap windows into my preferred places. I've seen similar posts but they are all outdated and am looking for some new apps.
Can anyone recommend me a free software?

BetterTouchTool. If it doesn't ask you to activate window snapping during launch, it's in the preferences

Or try BetterSnapTool! (made by the same person who made BTT. It just gives you more window-snapping options)

As you can see OP, you have lots of choices. BetterTouchTool is a pretty popular one though, mainly because of the gestures. Gestures + Magic Trackpad = amazing.
